SCOTTSDALE FASHION SQUARE OPENS 100,000 SQUARE-FOOT EXPANSION WITH BARNEYS NEW YORK AND 18 NEW RETAILERS AND RESTAURANTS

At 10:15 a.m. on 10/15, Scottsdale Fashion Square opened a 100,000 square foot expansion with Arizona’s first Barneys New York department store and 18 additional new retailers and restaurants.
Opening today are:
- Barneys New York, known worldwide for its fashion-forward approach and for introducing breakthrough designers;
- Aqua Beachwear, the swimwear and resort wear brand that underscores selection and ease of shopping;
- LTJ Arthur, a French concept focused on chic family homewear and beachwear;
- Aveda Lifestyle Salon, featuring the brand’s famous botanically based beauty products as well as a state of the art salon and spa services;
- Banana Republic, the accessible luxury fashion retailer for men and women that is unveiling their new concept that offers a redesigned shopping experience;
- Christian Audigier, the designer now puts his own name on this boutique featuring luxury streetwear for men and women, including Ed Hardy
- Forever 21, the fast-growing, trend-savvy clothing and accessories retailer for men and women;
- Fred’s, which is located on the second level of Barneys New York will offer Italian-American cuisine with an emphasize on healthful local ingredients;
- J Crew, the high-quality, American clothing and accessories brand for men, women and children;
- Love Culture, a new concept from the originators of Forever 21 featuring on-trend fashions for young women;
- Kenneth Cole, the footwear and accessories leader takes a new space in the expansion wing;
- Marcella’s Italian Kitchen, a new-to-market concept offering pizza, pastas, salads and more in a lively atmosphere;
- Michael Stars; a leader in women’s contemporary fashion and creator of the modern, fitted t-shirt;
- Modern Steak, a new steakhouse from Arizona’s premier restaurateur Sam Fox;
- Pandora, offering unique, handcrafted Danish designs in charm bracelets, necklaces, earrings and more;
- Paris Optique; an Arizona-based purveyor of fine fashion eyewear and optical services;
- Perfume Gallery, home to exciting recreations of original and hard-to-find fragrances;
- Stash Collections, a new higher-end iteration of the hip clothing store founded on L.A.’s Melrose Avenue;
- True Religion, the premium denim, sportswear and accessories brand.

Avid Arizona shoppers joined City of Scottsdale officials and Westcor executives to launch the new expansion wing in high style. Fun, fashion-forward activities included the debut of a one-of-a-kind art exhibit called “The Mannequin is Our Muse,” featuring original works of art using full-sized mannequins created by local celebrities and artists, retail and fashion industry leaders, including Simon Doonan, creative director for Barneys New York, and more. The top five art works as voted on by shoppers as well as a panel of judges will be displayed at the Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art.
Opening weekend activities include a full schedule of events:
- Fashion modeling,
- Numerous in-store promotions and demonstrations,
- Exciting live performances by nationally recognized electric string quartet, Phat Strad, and the school of music in the Herberger Institute for Design and the Arts at Arizona State University, among others.
- Local philanthropy is a key part of the grand opening experience, thanks to a special, early launch of The Care Card. Purchase of the card for $50 supports Ryan House, a local nonprofit organization benefiting children with life-limiting conditions. The card enables shoppers to enjoy 20 percent discounts at more than 50 participating Scottsdale Fashion Square retailers, including CH Carolina Herrera, Juicy Couture, Banana Republic, Gucci and Michael Kors, from October 15-25.

About the ExpansionDesigned to capture the natural beauty of the Camelback Mountain, the new expansion incorporates significant natural light via skylights and an oversized window facing Scottsdale Road. Customers can now enjoy new elements to heighten the shopping experience, including two levels of new underground parking plus an several new valet parking entrance area. Comfortable and attractive seating areas within the center offer great views of Scottsdale.
